Dental veneers are thin porcelain “shells” that fit directly over the surface of your natural teeth. They are an incredibly versatile tool that can address numerous aesthetic issues with just one treatment.
When you notice the gorgeous smile of a celebrity, you’re likely admiring a great set of veneers. The opportunity to transform your smile in a relatively short period of time draws many high-profile people to dental veneers.
Because dental veneers make up the entire visible portion of your smile, they can correct a wide range of aesthetic problems, including:
Best of all, veneers can correct multiple problems at once, saving you both money and time in the dental chair.
The first step is a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Foroutan to discuss your treatment needs and goals, and to determine if veneers are the right option. A dental exam and imaging may be part of this process.
Once you decide to move forward with veneers, you’ll come in for your initial appointment. Local anesthetic keeps you comfortable as Dr. Foroutan removes around ½ millimeter of your tooth enamel to make room for your new veneers. Imaging or impressions follow, and give the dental lab the specifications needed to create a custom set of veneers.
You’ll wear a temporary set while your new veneers are crafted. Once they arrive, you’ll return to Dr. Foroutan. He checks the veneers for a proper fit before cementing them in place.
Dr. Foroutan makes any minor adjustments needed to achieve optimal fit. You’ll return a few weeks later to ensure your gum tissue is adapting to the new veneers.
With the proper care, you can expect your new set of veneers to last up to 15 years. They’ll eventually need to be replaced with a new set, but as advancements in dentistry continue, tomorrow’s veneers may be even more durable.
Because the process requires removing a small amount of your natural tooth tissue, dental veneers are considered permanent. If you remove veneers, your teeth will need to be protected by a new set or a full dental crown.
